This past weekend our kayak adventure took us to the Suwanee River.
A little over an hour drive brought us to the Suwannee River State park off of 90 and Interstate 10.
It was great going into the State park as to the parking and boat landing was very easy to drop in and pick up. Upon entry to the park the guide gave us a river map that was very helpful as it indicated all the boat landings as well as all the springs along the way.
There was very little air circulation and the humidity enticed us to pull over and get in the water many times through the day.
We came across a spring that was very interesting and the only way we discovered it was the sound of rushing water. One of the locals said that many of the springs have dried up because of the water table.
We were very curious so of course we walked around it and I also crawled down on the edge as it was a very small spring yet very cold and refreshing.
The river bank was very interesting as well because of all the lime rock and sandy beach areas to pull off for a quick swim.
The water was very dark so you were not sure what was lurking below. There were signs stating that they have had problems in the past with the Garr fish. So you needed to be extra careful while in the water.
We are always up for an adventure so next time on the Suwannee we will head in the other direction to see what there is to explore.
