Florida leads nation in new construction jobs, 2015 job market: more opportunities, better offers, I hope we keep this lead!
Palm Beach and Broward counties added almost 5,000 construction jobs in 2014, the Associated General Contractors of America said Wednesday.
Employment in the local industry hit a six-year high, said Ken Simonson, chief economist for the AGC.
Florida added 34,300 construction jobs, an 8.9 percent increase. Others leading states included Texas (47,500 jobs, 7.7 percent), California (26,000 jobs, 4 percent), Illinois (20,200 jobs, 10.6 percent) and Washington (14,100 jobs, 9.5 percent).
Simonson said that as construction firms expand their payrolls, reports of shortages of construction labor are growing. More than 1 million workers left the industry over the past four years.
Nationwide, 257 out of 339 metro areas added new construction jobs between December 2013 and December 2014.
We have not had a shortage yet of skilled Construction workers as we see the Tallahassee Metropolitan Area continue its rebound of New Construction building and sales of New homes!
Currently the Local Builders are maintaining and keeping pace with the demand, so with these good interest rates and with Florida and the Economy all on a steady rebound it looks like a very good year for 2015!
