The trip this weekend took us to the Econfina Creek off Hwy 20 and 231 towards Panama City.
Saturday was a great day for going kayaking. The weather was perfect and there was a cool breeze in the air most of the day.
We decided to paddle up stream as far as we could because of the current being very strong, then take the easy way back down stream. We dropped in about 10:30 and got back to the landing about 4:00.
We had never been on this body of water before so it was definitely something new.
There are many underground springs along the way as well as ones that you can swim in.
I took a dive down with a mask on one of them and the water was so cold that it took your breath away. It is truly amasing that these places are with in driving distance to our area.
There are so many areas were you can pull off and drag the kayaks to shore and walk into a water way to discover the different springs hidden off the main creek.
The water level was low so the current was very swift and you had to paddle hard around the corners or the current was taking you down stream.
We went about 3 1/2 hours up stream until we came upon an area were there were quite a few trees down and it would be too difficult to carry the Kayaks and supplies because it looked like they had a storm and that area of the creek was blocked off.
Never the less we really enjoyed the time and the new surroundings.
i would also say od the places we have been this is the second best.
Until next time enjoy the photo gallery attached.
