Just down the road on HWY 98 just east of the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge is the Econfina River.
Water levels at this point are low because we got hung up on the Oyster beds and scraped the bottoms of the kayaks trying to get back to land.
It was an adventure and I recommend going later in the day when the tide is coming in so you are not paddling in an oyster bed to get free.
We went up river first to get to the bridge but were still a couple hundred yards away because of the water level.
Then we turned around to get to the bay and on the way out it kept getting shallow as we progressed.
Finally the tide started coming in and it made it easier to get back.
It is always fun to take a different rout on these rivers to find out what you do and do not like.
You also learn what you need to keep on you for other trips and what ones you may wait to take at another date.
All in all it was another great day to be on the water as the breeze was fantastic and it was only in the 70’s.
